TAUNTON- Virginia “Ginny” Sanson, age 89, of Taunton, passed away in the morning hours of Thursday, May 4, 2023, at Morton Hospital in Taunton.
Born in Taunton, Ginny was the daughter of the late August Sanson and Mary (Sousa) Alves. She was raised in Taunton and attended Taunton Public Schools.
A hard-working woman, Ginny worked at various jobs throughout her lifetime. Her most recent place of employment was working as a Switchboard Operator for Taunton State Hospital.
In her spare time, Ginny was an avid sports fan, rooting for many of the local New England sports teams, especially the New England Patriots, with Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski being her favorite players. Ginny was also quite the social person, as she knew many people around town. She enjoyed taking trips to Foxwoods Casino and she also liked to get away on cruises to Bermuda and Aruba.
Ginny is survived by her sisters: Emily David and her late husband Howard of Taunton, Gladys Perry and her husband Bruce Axon of Raynham, and Aurora Alves McCarty of Raynham. She is also survived by her niece, nephew, and great-niece.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Ginny’s graveside service on Monday, May 8, 2023, at 1:00 PM at St. Joseph Cemetery, 475 East Brittania Street, Taunton. Please arrive at the front gate of the cemetery by 12:45 PM.
A Memorial Mass in memory of Ginny will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023, at 8:00 AM in St. Anthony Church, School Street, Taunton.
