BERKLEY- Richard Faria, age 74, of Berkely, passed away surrounded by the love, comfort, and care of his devoted family on Sunday, April 2, 2023, at his home in Berkely. He was the loving husband for 38 years to his wife, Marianne (Norvish) Faria.
Born in Taunton, Richard was one of six sons born to the late Manuel Faria, Sr. and Virginia (Ferris) Faria. He was raised in Berkley.
A proud and patriotic man, Richard served his country for over 20 years with the US Army Reserves. He achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant, and his most recent duty assignment was with the 399th Combat Support Hospital, Taunton, MA (94th Arcom).
For over 20 years, Richard was employed by the Massachusetts Department of Corrections, where he held the title of Maintenance Officer. He was well respected by his colleagues for his work ethic and willingness to help others.
In his spare time, Richard had a variety of hobbies and interests. He was an avid NASCAR fan, with his favorite driver being Dale Earnhardt. Residing on the same family farm property he was raised on; Richard took pride in continuing to work on the land through keeping his home and yard in pristine condition. He was an admirer of classic cars, even owning two of his own, a ’55 Chevy Belair and a ’70 Chevelle SS. Above all, Richard was most happy when he was in the presence of and making memories with his dear family.
In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by his cherished children: Jeannette Faria, Sharon Faria, Tracey Mathews and her husband Aaron, and Jonathan Faria; his 8 treasured grandchildren; and, countless number of nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Richard is predeceased by his brothers: Joseph Faria, Daniel Faria, Manuel Faria, Jr., George Faria; and also Frank Faria.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, in the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton (at Saint Mary's Square)

Richard's funeral will begin on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at 9:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 am, in the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton (at Saint Mary's Square).
Interment with Military Honors will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Taunton.
