Richard Baker Obituary

Richard S. Baker, age 82 of Taunton, passed away on September 13, 2022, at Brockton Hospital.

He was the beloved husband of the late Debra (Silvia) Baker.

Richard was born in Middleboro, the son of the late Richard and Mary (Szwartz) Baker.

Before retiring, Richard was employed at Westgate Lanes in Brockton as a mechanic for many years.  He traveled to Las Vegas many times for bowling tournaments where people thought he was Roy Orbison or Gene Simmons, both of which he embraced. Richard loved his family and traveling to Vegas and Virginia with his beloved wife Debbie.  Richard will be remembered as always in black with his Harley Davidson shirts, big belt buckles and black motorcycle boots, and an assortment of sunglasses regardless of being in doors.  Richard talked to everyone and always had a story of his adventures of his life, from helping his grandparents on the farm in RI to his days of owning a bar and catching rides with truck drivers and eating in roadside diners.

Richard is survived by his sisters; Leona (Baker) Miller of Attleboro, and Shirley (Baker) Bonnette and husband Robert of Brockton.  Brother-in-Laws Richard Martin of Berkley, Antone Silvia III of East Taunton, and Michael Silvia and partner Janice of VA.  The grandfather to three grandchildren, the uncle of Heather Martin and partner Tara, Jennifer (Martin) Gill and husband Kevin, Richard Martin Jr and wife Katelyn,  Linda Karaneris, Darlene (Miller) Tassinary, Steven Karaneris and Charles Miller III, several great niece and nephews, aunt and cousins.  He was the stepfather of the late Donald S Boutilier IV and Dawn M Boutilier and the brother-in-law of the late Patricia A. (Silvia) Martin.

All funeral services were held privately.

Arrangements were with the Silva Funeral Home of Taunton.
