Patrick Riley Obituary

Patrick B. Riley, age 63 of Rehoboth, passed away on April 5, 2024 at Massachusetts General Hospital.

He was the former husband of Ida (DeNobrega) Riley.

Patrick was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, the son of the late Bernard and Joan (Quarton) Riley.

Patrick grew up in South Africa, a place he always considered home. He excelled in sports like track and field and rugby. He was a proud graduate of St. David’s Marist Brothers Inanda (’78) and University of the Witwatersand (’85). He immigrated to the United States in the summer of 1986. Before retiring, Mr. Riley was employed as a CPA.

He had a wanderlust for traveling and had visited well over 30 countries. Some of his favorite trips include Australia, Egypt, Scotland, Italy, and France. However, his most favorite trips were ones he took with his daughters.

Patrick was a supportive and caring father. He attended every sporting event, dance recital, and was always there to offer advice. He always called his girls “angels”, even when they weren’t. His angels will sorely miss him.

He had a love for photography, literature, and genealogy. He was always wearing Life Is Good shirts. In his later years, he enjoyed making homemade biltong with the help of his pet sous chefs, Duke and Daisy. Indeed, his life was good.

Besides his former wife Ida, Patrick is survived by his loving daughters, Cassandra Barber and husband Ryan of Taunton and Caitlin Cooper and husband Tyler of Tennessee. Patrick was also the little brother of Bridget Williamson of South Africa and treasured uncle to Angela Williamson of Scotland and Kendra and Vishaan DeNobrega of Berkley.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 12, 2024 at 11am in Holy Family Church Middleboro Avenue, East Taunton. Relatives and friends may meet directly at church at 10:30am.

Interment will be held privately in Guisborough, England, where he will be reunited with his parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts made to: Life Is Good Playmaker Project in Patrick’s memory, would be deeply appreciated.

Arrangements are with the Silva Funeral Home of Taunton.
