TAUNTON- Jose O. “Oscar” Quental, age 74, of Taunton, passed away peacefully in the late evening hours of Thursday, October 12, 2023, surrounded by the love, comfort, and care of his adoring family. He was the loving husband to Maria A. (Salema) Vieira.
Born on the island of Madeira, Oscar was one of two sons born to the late Francisco F. Quental and Aldora (Paixao) Vergato. Oscar was a proud veteran of the Portuguese Army.
A hardworking man, Oscar worked for many years in the Jewelry Industry as an Assembler, where he used his skills to create beautiful pieces of jewelry.
In his spare time, Oscar loved to go out to eat at various restaurants and take trips to the casino. He was an avid traveler and he enjoyed reading a variety of books. Above all, he relished the time spent and memories made with his dear family.
In addition to his wife, Oscar is survived by his step-daughter: Carla Vieira and her husband Saul Justa; his step-grandchildren: Jeremy, Avery, Zayden, and Matilda; his niece and nephew: Nancy Cooper and Kingslee Quental; his close friends: Alda Ponte and her husband Francisco and Maria Correiro and her husband Mario; his first cousins: Margarida Fernandes, Ivo Pereira and his wife Irene, Luis Pereira and his wife Manuela, Eugenio Pereira and his wife Luisa, Clemente Pereira and his wife Isabel, Vitor Pereira and his wife Luzia, and Linda Singer and her husband Rick; and also many friends and extended family members.
In addition to his parents, Oscar is preceded in passing by his late brother: Antonio Quental.
Oscar’s funeral with visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at 8:30am from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Saint Anthony’s Church, School St, Taunton.
Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
