FORT MYERS, FL- Olive May (Dunphe) Silva, born November 12, 1928, passed away peacefully on February 3. 2024 at Hope Hospice in Fort Myers, Florida at the age of 95. Formerly of Raynham, MA, she was predeceased by her loving husband of 52 years, John J. Silva.
She was the daughter of the late George Francis and Mary Louise Dunphe of Taunton, MA. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mabel L. Kullas, and two
brothers Earl S. Dunphe, and Milton F. Dunphe. She is survived by her four daughters, Corinne M. Silva of Kensington, MD; Laurie A. Frese (Charlie) of Sanibel, Florida; Diane L. Olive enjoyed a full life, taking care of her daughters including sewing them clothes and costumes and participating in their many activities. She worked as a bookkeeper for many years both before her daughters were born and after they were in school, including many years at Taunton Visiting Nurses Association.
She enjoyed many activities with her family and friends throughout her life. In her younger years, she enjoyed traveling, playing tennis, and riding bikes along the Cape Cod canal with her husband. For many years she was a member of the Norton Singers and Taunton Civic Chorus and enjoyed singing in shows and musicals in various community groups, and playing the piano, activities that she continued through her eighties. In her later years, she enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and traveling and spending time with her daughters, including many summer trips to Cape Cod as well as trips to Maryland, Florida, Hawaii and Australia. Her daughters are grateful for the many years she had to spend with them and will miss her dearly.
