Mary White

BILLERICA- Mary M. (Ponte) White, age 95, of Billerica, former longtime resident of Taunton, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at Sunny Acres Legacy Care in Chelmsford. She was the wife of the late Edward E. White, Sr., for 57 years.

Born in Taunton, Mary was the daughter of the late Manuel and Maria (Alves) De Ponte. She was raised in Taunton and attended Taunton Public Schools. 

For over 25 years, Mary was employed as an Inspector for Texas Instruments in Attleboro. 

A woman of deep faith, Mary was a parishioner of the former Immaculate Conception Church, and upon its closure, she attended St. Jude the Apostle Parish. 

In her spare time, Mary was active in her church’s Women's Guild, the Red Hat Society, and the Gaelic Society.  

Mary is survived by her cherished children: Edward E. White, Jr. and his wife Rosann of Billerica, Susan J. Powers and her husband Tom of Clearwater, FL and the late Mark J. White; her grandchildren: Jason White and his wife Leigh, Christopher White and his wife Megan, Nicole Powers, and Jessica Powers; her great-grandchildren: Owen, Abigail, Declan, and Kellan; and also numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Family and friends are invited to gather for Mrs. White’s funeral with visitation, which will be held on Monday, September 25, 2023 at 9:30am at Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in St Jude the Apostle Parish, 249 Whittenton Street, Taunton.

Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
