Mary departed this world on April 9, 2024 at the age of 91 surrounded by her loved ones in her life long hometown of Taunton. Born on April 29, 1932 to the late Joseph and Louise Silvia. She was the loving and devoted wife of 51 years to the late Emeral “Ty” Draper.

Mary was employed by the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (MSPCC) for 43 years as an Administrative Assistant and Southeast Region’s Human Resource Director.
Mary was a graduate of Taunton High School and Bristol County Business School.
In 1985, the MSPCC recognized Mary’s outstanding contribution to the organization with the Frances Marley Award. She later was the first recipient of the Judith DeWitt Award for support staff excellence. Mary’s commitment to children extended to Babe Ruth Baseball. For 10 years, she was president of the Taunton-Raynham League. She also served as District Commissioner for Region V in Southeastern Massachusetts.
Mary was also a board member of the City of Taunton’s Community Development Office. She also served on the Advisory Board of the Dept. of Public Welfare (now DTA) in Taunton and was a Taunton Savings Bank corporator for several years. Mary’s legacy will continue in the hearts and minds of those fortunate enough to know her. She was a proper and respectful woman whose kindness, generosity, integrity and devotion to her family will be forever cherished.
Mary loved her home and found great pleasure in decorating her meticulous home for every holiday and hosting her famous family dinners for the holidays. Her greatest passion was the love for her family. She would also on occasion surprise us with her talent for yodeling. She was forever grateful to her amazing aides Veronica, Dee, Suzy and Marie. As a result of their love, commitment and dedication to taking care of Mary, she was able to happily remain in her home for her 91 years.
