Marla Isaac Obituary

Marla J. Isaac, age 64, of Taunton, passed away on December 4, 2022 at Morton Hospital.

Born in Taunton, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Edna (Crisp) Isaac.

Marla was a graduate of Taunton High School Class of 1975 and later attended Swain School of Design in New Bedford.

Marla was an avid environmental and wildlife enthusiast, and that passion went into everything she did from art all the way to starting a business doing educational wildlife programs and later a nonprofit rehab that specializes in birds of prey. In 1983 Marla went to mainland China with members of Harvard University to collect and document specimens. Marla was also the President of the New England Herpetological Society. Marla has even taught members of the law enforcement community all over the New England in proper handling and containment of various species of reptiles and birds of prey. Marla was a member of the Conservation Commission for the City of Taunton, a 4H leader and member of the Friends of Boyden Park. Some of the animals that Marla owned included rattlesnakes, cobras, boa constrictors, anacondas, pythons, crocodiles, alligators and various hawks, owls, falcons, and vultures. Marla’s passion and commitment to wildlife was inspired by her own mother Edna who always pushed to leave the world a better place then when you found it. Marla even made it into a book that was published by Harvard University press called Rarest of the Rare where there’s a small writeup about her.

She is survived by her son Jason Legrow and wife Olivia and her grandson; Carter Legrow. She was the sister of the late Donald Isaac Jr and Dorian Isaac.

Marla’s funeral will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022 at 9:00am to 12:00pm with a funeral service to begin at noon from the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton.

Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North side of the funeral home.

Interment will follow in Mayflower Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts made to:  Bristol Aggie Educational Foundation Inc. 135 Center Street MA 02715 in Marla’s memory would be deeply appreciated.
