Maria Medeiros Obituary

Maria (Resendes) Medeiros, 91, of Fall River, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024. 

She was the widow of Joao Medeiros. 

Born in Agua Retorta, São Miguel, she was the daughter of the late Mariano and Adelaide (Silva) Resendes. Maria worked as a machine operator for the former Providence Pile and also the former Quaker Fabric. She also spent many years working in the kitchen at the former Tony’s Fish & Chips on Rodman Street. 

Maria’s life was completely dedicated to her children and they will always be grateful for her unwavering love and support. 

She was the mother of Leonor Vieira and her husband Tony of Westport, Joe “Gil” Medeiros of Fall River, and Arthur Medeiros of Lynn, MA; grandmother of Melissa Moço and her husband Marco of Dartmouth, Jason Vieira and his wife Alissa of Oregon, Ohio, and Jack Medeiros of Lynn, MA; great grandmother of Catia Moço, Julian Moço, Adelaide Vieira and Winston Vieira, and aunt of many nieces and nephews. She was also sister of the late Mariano Silva, Jose Silva and Arthur Resendes. 

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 12th at 9:00am in the Silva-Faria Funeral Home, 730 Bedford St., Fall River, with her Funeral Mass to follow in St. Anthony of Padua Church at 10:00am. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours Monday from 5-8pm.
