Maria L. "Leonor" Goncalves

RAYNHAM- Maria L. “Leonor” Goncalves, age 77, of Raynham, formerly of Taunton, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at New England Sinai Hospital in Stoughton. 

Born in Sao Miguel, Azores, Leonor was one of a set of twin girls born to the late Antonio and Julia (de Conceicao) Reis. She was raised in the Azores and immigrated to the United States, settling in Taunton. 

A hardworking woman, Leonor, spent many years employed as a Machine Operator for Texas Instruments in Attleboro.

A woman of deep faith, Leonor was a familiar face and longtime parishioner at Saint Anthony Church in Taunton. She loved going to Sunday Mass and attending church functions. 

In her spare time, Leonor enjoyed cooking and baking delicious meals for her family. She liked to challenge herself with crossword puzzles and go on walks for exercise. She kept a very tidy and clean home and above all, she cherished the time spent and memories made with her family.

Leonor is survived by her proud son: Jimmy Goncalves and his wife Alyson; her two loving grandsons: Drew and Connor Goncalves; her siblings: twin sister Ana Maria (Reis) Carvalho and her late husband Jose, Isabel (Reis) Dinis and her late husband Ernesto, Cidalia (Reis) Cabral and her late husband Gil, and Fernanda (Reis) Da Silva; and also numerous nephews, nieces and extended family members. 

In addition to her parents, Leonor is predeceased by her siblings: Antonio Reis, Conceicao (Reis) Varao, Manuel Reis, Fatima Reis, and Maria Deus Reis.

Leonor’s funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at 8:00am from the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9am in Saint Anthony Church School Street, Taunton.

Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, October 23, from 5 to 7 pm in the Silva Funeral Home. Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North side of the funeral home.
