Manuel Travassos, age 80 of Taunton, passed away on March 7, 2023 at Morton Hospital with his loving family by his side.
He was the beloved husband of Maria ( Correia) Travassos.
Born in Sao Miguel, Acores, Manuel was the son of the late Mariano and Crescencia (Funxinho) Travassos
Before retiring, Manuel was employed with Wheaton College as a Groundskeeper.
Manuel served with the Portuguese Army.
"He enjoyed spending time with his family, enjoying the outside, and his Portuguese culture. He always had a smile on his face when surrounded by loved ones, which was often. He loved to go fishing, or sit by ocean, or just soak up the sun and fresh air. Manuel also loved to serve his community by volunteering at his local church, Sr. Anthony Church. He would join the community for feasts, events, and church on Sundays."
Besides his beloved wife Maria of over 54 years, he is survived by his loving daughter; Linda Marshall and her husband Alan of Berkley, grandfather of Samantha, Brandan and Brianna, great-grandfather of Oliver and Weston. Manuel was also the brother of Mariano Travers, Antonio Travassos and Mary camara all of Taunton
Manuel’s funeral will be held on Monday, March 13, 2023 at 8:30am from the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Saint Anthony Church School Street, Taunton.
Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, March 12th from 3 to 5 pm in the Silva Funeral Home. Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North side of the funeral home.
