Manuel Medeiros

Manuel Correia Medeiros, age 93 of Taunton, passed away on July 31, 2022, at Morton Hospital.

He was the beloved husband of the late Idalina (Moreira) Medeiros, who passed away in 2019.

Born in Villa Franca, Sao Miguel, Azores, Manuel was the son of the late Antone and Maria dos Anios Medeiros.

Before retiring, Mr. Medeiros was employed with Acme Boot Company of Stoughton for many years.

He enjoyed time with his family, colt state park, fishing on a beautiful day, wrestling with his son, woodworking, watching, playing, and listening to soccer.

Manuel served in the Portuguese Army. And was a member of Taunton Eagels Soccer Club.

Mr. Medeiros is survived by his  children, Lidia Bettencourt, and her husband, Jorge, of Sao Jorge, Azores, Michael M. Medeiros, and his wife Victoria, of Taunton, and Christopher De Mederios Moreira, and his companion, Wilfredo Ortiz, of Puerto Rico; eight grandchildren, Christina Silveira, and her husband, Nelson, Daniel Bettencourt, and his wife Teresa, Talia Smith, and her husband, Tim, Kristen Russell, and her husband, Briam Granado, and John Powell, Sarah Powell and Ryan Powell, and his wife, Sonya ; fifteen great grandchildren, Noah, Seveah, Michael, Bella, Kyle, Brenden, Wyatt, Reagan, Mariana, Dalila, Daisy, Ryan Jr, Natalie, Justin, Holly, and Michael; and many nieces, nephews, and godchildren. He was also the brother of the late Antonio, Alfredo, sister Deolinda, and survived by his sister Guiomar.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, August 5, 2022, from 5 to 7 pm, in the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton (at Saint Mary’s Square).

Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North side of the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 6th at 9 am, in Saint Anthony Church, 126 School Street, Taunton (relatives and friends may meet directly at church at 8:45 am).

Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Taunton.
