Louise Drake Obituary

Louise (Jacques) Drake, age 92 of Taunton, passed away on October 20, 2023 at her home with her loving family by her side.

She was the beloved wife of the late Robert L. Drake.

Born in Taunton, Louise was the daughter of the late Joseph and Celeste (Marrotte) Jacques.

Louise was a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Taunton where she was a Eucharistic Minister since June of 1982. She was also a member of the Woman’s Guild and a long time volunteer at the former St. Mary School Bingo.

More than anything else in her life, Louise enjoyed being a mother. She devoted much of her life to raising her children and helping family and friends with child care.  A beautiful baby would melt her heart and she would never turn down an opportunity to spend time with a little one.  Louise also enjoyed travel, bowling, dancing, baking, knitting, crocheting and other crafts. Louise loved flowers and her home was often filled with beautiful floral arrangements.  She enjoyed a competitive game of cribbage and finding a generous slot machine at a casino. Holidays were always a special time and Louise’s home would be fully decked out waiting for her family to arrive and complete her joy.

Louise  is survived by her loving children; Edward (Sheral) Drake of Mansfield, Frank Drake of  East Freetown, Alfred (Cindy) Drake of Taunton, James (Denise) Drake of RI, Doris (Christopher) Arundel of CT, Nancy (Michael) Landry of VT, Carol Frazier of Taunton and Mary (Steven) Carvalho of East Taunton. She is also survived by daughter-in-law Paula Drake.  Louise was grandmother of Jennifer Pires, Edward Drake Jr, Ashley Weiss, Janine Charbonneau, Daniel and Adam Arundel,  Patrick and Nicole Drake, Kaitlin and Joseph Landry, Jeffrey Frazier, Samantha, Audrey and Travis Carvalho and Brendan and Melissa Drake.  Louise was  great-grandmother of Joshua Pires, Kailyn, Julianna and Grant Drake, Natalie and Holly Weiss, Drake and Hannah Charbonneau ,Emerson Drake and baby Arundel.. She was great -great grandmother of Tessa Pires.

Louise was predeceased by her son Robert, daughters-in-law Susan and Maureen and son-in-law Christopher Frazier.  She was the sister of the late Alfred, Henry and Emile Jacques, Sylvina Rodrigues, Dora Ashley, Alice Rose and  Edna Francis.

Louise is also survived by her best friend and constant companion Duke.

Mrs. Drake’s funeral will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 8:30am from the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Saint Mary’s Church in Taunton.

Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, October 27th from 4 to 7pm in the Silva Funeral Home. Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North side of the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Compassionate Care Hospice (Amedisys Foundation,100 Myles Standish Boulevard, Suite 103, Taunton, MA 02780) in Louise’s memory, would be deeply appreciated.
