Linda L. Rider

TAUNTON- Linda L. Rider, age 68, of Taunton, passed away surrounded by the love, comfort, and care of her dear family, on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at her home. She was the beloved and devoted wife to Horace C. Rider, Jr., whom she recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of their nuptial ceremony.

Born in Boston, Linda was the daughter of the late Louis J. and Lucy “Susanne” (Cossette) Brackett. She grew up in Boston and attended nursing school for a brief period. In January of 1973, on a blind date, Linda met her husband Horace. The two of them would exchange vows on August 11 of that same year.

A hardworking woman, Linda had a passion for antiques and refinishing furniture. That interest led her to own and operate an antique store. Her first store location was in Walpole, before moving her operation to Medfield. She attended various auctions throughout the area to find and pick her best items. 

In her spare time, Linda enjoyed gardening, vacationing on cruise ships, and spending time with her treasured and adored family. 

In addition to her husband, Linda is survived by her proud and cherished children: Melissa Griswold and her husband Thomas of Douglas, MA and Laura DeBlois of Douglas, MA; her grandchildren: Shane Rider, Mackenzie Rider, Allison Roberts, Tommy Griswold, and Paige Griswold; her sisters: Barbara Perkins of Fort Myers, FL and Maxine Brackett of Pawtucket, RI; and also numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

In addition to her parents, Linda is predeceased by her brothers: Dennis DePasse and John DePasse. 

Linda’s visitation with funeral will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at 9:00am followed by a funeral service beginning at 10:30am in the Chapel of the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton. Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North side of the funeral home.

Interment will follow in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave., Bourne.
