Jose T. Melo

Jose T. Melo, age 67, of East Taunton, passed away on November 3, 2023 at Marion Manor

Nursing Home peacefully surrounded by his loving family.

He was the beloved husband of Zurita (Calheta) Melo, born in Faial da Terra, Sao Miguel

Azores. He was the son of the late Jose and Maria Conceicao (Tavares) Melo. Besides his

beloved wife, Zurita, of 43 years, Jose is survived by his loving sons, Danny Melo and wife,

Dianne of Berkley and Steven Melo and husband, Jonathan Dunn of Weymouth. He was the

grandfather of Anthony and Juliana, brother of Norberto Melo of Attleboro and Maria Andre of

Fall River.

Before his retirement, Mr. Melo was employed by Aurora Technology. He enjoyed spending

time with his family, especially with his grandkids. He loved his Portuguese music, visiting

Sao Miguel, gardening and playing cards after holiday dinners. One of his favorite pastimes

was watching Family Feud. His happiest times was when he was taking care of his dairy farm in

Faial da Terra.

Mr. Melo’s funeral with visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at 9am from the

Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton, followed by a Mass of

Christian Burial to begin at 11am at St. Anthony’s Church, School Street, Taunton.

Interment will follow in St Joseph’s Cemetery
