Jose M. Melo

Jose M. Melo, age 73 of Fall River, passed away on August 1, 2023 in the comfort of his home with his loving family by his side.

He was the beloved husband of Helena (Sousa) Melo.

Born in Furnas, Sao Miguel Acores, Jose was the son of the late Jose and Louisa (Ferreira) Melo.

Before retiring, Mr. Melo was employed with the former Duro Finishing as a machine operator for many years.

Jose enjoyed working in his yard, fixing just about anything for people and most of all he cherished time spent with his family and had a great love for animals especially his two dog’s Lucky and Angel.

Besides his beloved wife Helena of over 51 years, Jose is survived by his loving sons; David Melo and Daniel Melo and his companion Nelia all of Fall River. He was the proud grandfather of Destinie and Meghan and great-grandfather of Lillian Rose. Mr. Melo was also the brother of Antonio Melo of Swansea, Lucy Bullhose of Westport, Manuel Melo, Ana Auguiar and Terry Collard all of Fall River as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Melo’s funeral with visitation will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at 8:30am with a funeral service to begin at 10am in the Auclair Funeral Home 690 South Main Street, Fall River.

Interment will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts made to a charity of one’s choice in Mr. Melo’s memory, would be deeply appreciated.
