Jose “Joe” M. Bergantim, age 59 of New Bedford, passed away May 11, 2022 at St. Luke Hospital.
Joe was born in Feterias do Sul, Sao Miguel, Azores, the son of the late Manuel and Maria (Raposo) Bergantim.
Joe was employed with P.A. Landers for over thirty years as a site superintendent. He was a member of Baystate APA Pool League in New Bedford, he enjoyed being outdoors, theme parks, fishing, air shows, and being around a campfire. Most of all, he was a loving and caring person who cherished time spent with family and friends.
Mr. Bergantim is survived by his loving children Diane Bergantim of Taunton and Justin Bergantim, Sr. and wife Ally of CT, grandfather of Jazlynn, Kayleigh, Faith, Justin Jr., and Silas. Brother of Fernando Bergantim of Rochester, Joao Bergantim of Easton, Norberto Bergantim of Taunton, Berta Valcorba of Taunton, and Ana Moniz of Fall River. He was also the brother of the late Juliana Moniz, and Jorge Bergantim. Joe also is survived by the mother of his children Maria (Vieira) Bergantim as well as his companion and caretaker Lucia Medeiros.
Joe’s funeral will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 8:45am from the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at St. Mary Square) Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in St. Anthony Church School Street Taunton. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday May 18th from 4-7pm in the Silva Funeral Home. Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North side of the funeral home.
