Joanne Burt Obituary

Joanne E. (Sylvia) Burt, age 76 of Taunton, passed away on April 16, 2024, at Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln, MA surrounded by her loving family.

She was the longtime companion of Paul Lemaire for over 40 years.

Born in N. Dighton, MA she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Lillian (Torres) Sylvia.

Joanne was a kind, sweet, selfless and compassionate person who always took time for her family, placing their needs before her own. Whether offering a listening ear, extending a helping hand, providing a comforting hug, or giving practical advice, she did so with love, and often a touch of humor. Joanne enjoyed a life of simplicity and humility. She found joy in the little moments, cherishing the beauty of life’s simplest pleasures. Joanne’s humility was a testament to her character, never seeking recognition or praise for her acts of kindness.  She loved unconditionally and leaves a huge hole in the hearts of her family.

In her pastime, she enjoyed cooking, puzzles, sewing, crocheting and various crafts. She loved games of all types and was fiercely competitive. She also enjoyed watching true crime documentaries and reading.

Besides her companion Paul, she is survived by her children; Jason Burt and his wife Joy and Monica Gibson and her husband Ronald, siblings; Judith Daggett and her husband Brian, Susan McCrohan, Leslie Eaton and her husband Dan, grandchildren; Benjamin Smith and his wife Melanie, Jada Burt, Adriana Gibson, Amberlie Gibson and her partner Will, Shantel Grindle and her husband Isaac, 9 great- grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister-in-law to the late Daniel McCrohan.
