Joanne (White) Arruda

Joanne (White) Arruda, age 78, passed away on July 13, 2023 at New England Sinai Hospital in Stoughton.

She was the beloved wife of the late Adrian “Rudy” Arruda for over 60 years.

Born in Taunton she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Thomas) White. Mrs. Arruda was raised and educated in Taunton and a graduate of Taunton High School.  Joanne and Rudy lived in their beloved home in Raynham for over 50 years together.  

Joanne was a strong woman who lived her life for her children, grandchildren, family, friends and her community. Her fight began in 1978 when her first born Mary-Lou was tragically taken from her and her family.  She was the strength and back bone that kept her family together. She never gave up, always was the one you could go to for advice and support.  She touched many people’s lives throughout the years. Joanne always welcomed her children’s friends into her home, as if they were her own.  Joanne loved to wake up in the morning and have her first cup of coffee with husband Rudy, along with her first cigarette to start her day.  She enjoyed working as a Manager at Via Della Chiesa Vineyards for many years.  She then left and helped care for her grandson Blake which became her world. She loved to sit on her porch with her friends and talk about the old days. She had many great conversations with lots of family and friends that will be remembered forever.  

Mrs. Arruda is survived by her children; Antone Arruda and Brook Beranger, Joseph Arruda and wife Michelle, Karen (Arruda) Daley, grandchildren; Joseph Arruda and wife Kelsey, Brandon Arruda and wife Haley, AJ Arruda, Benjamin Arruda, Blake Starratt, Ross Daley, great-grandchildren; Brinly and Audrey Arruda and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was the mother of the late Mary-Lou Arruda and sister of the late Marguerite Rusconi, Louise Menard and Stella Silveira.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, July18, 2023 from 4 to 7pm with a Funeral Home Serve at 7pm from Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway Taunton.

Handicap parking is located on the North side of the funeral home.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday July 26, 2023 at 10:00 am in Saint Joseph Cemetery 475 E. Britannia Street, Taunton.  Relative and friends are welcome to gather at the front gate at 9:45am.
