Isabel (Macedo) Lakin

Isabel (Macedo) Lakin, age 88 of Taunton, passed away on May 18, 2023 at Marian Manor.

She was the beloved wife of the late James R. Lakin, Jr.

Isabel was born in East Providence, RI, the daughter of the late Joseph and Lucy (Bannon) Macedo.

She is survived by her two step sons: Paul Lakin of Texas and Brian Lakin of Florida.

She was the beloved aunt to Denise Thomas and her husband Jeffrey of Taunton; Lisa Mellor of Hanover; Lauren Reyes and her husband Wade of Taunton; and several nieces and nephews across both Massachusetts and Florida.  Isabel was the devoted great, great aunt to Aylen, Lia, Savannah, Gavin and Ella Reyes, whom she often referred to as “the grandchildren she never had”.  Isabel was also the sister of the late Joseph P. Macedo, Jr., James Macedo and the late Mary Jones. 

Before retiring, Mrs. Lakin was employed as a retail salesclerk for many years.  She was often recognized, and fondly remembered as “the woman from the Children’s Shop”. 

In her free time, Isabel enjoyed spending time with family and friends, shopping and traveling with her husband during their retirement years, often reminiscing of their trips to Hawaii and Florida. 

Mrs. Lakin was truly one of a kind.  Her kind and gracious nature will be missed by all who were blessed to know her.

A service will be held in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, 1 Connery Street Bourne MA  at 1:45pm on Monday June 12, 2023. Relatives and friends may meet at the front gates of the cemetery at 1:30pm.
