Henry L. Bennett, age 86 of Dighton, passed away on January 22, 2022 at Charlton Memorial Hospital.
He was the beloved husband of Mary L. (Lapre) Bennett.
Henry was born in Somerset, MA, the son of the late George Bennett and Evonna (Ravenelle) Boulay.
Henry was a graduate of B M C Durfee High School, Class of 1953 and of Bradford Durfee Technical College, now known as UMass Darthmouth in 1962.
Before retiring in 1991, Mr. Bennett was employed with NUSC Newport, RI as an Electrical Engineer, heading their Fire Control Lab..
Mr. Bennett proudly served his country with the Navy as a Sonar Man 1st Class, during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of_former Raposa/Knott Veterans Post and_The Bay State Beagle Club and enjoyed hunting with his sons and brother in law, as well as fishing, quahoging and clamming at his beach cottage in Plymouth for many years.
Besides his beloved wife Mary of over 61 years, he is survived by his loving children; Henry L. Bennett and wife Christine of_Phillipston, MA, Thomas P. Bennett , David A. Bennett of_Tiverton, RI, Michael J. Bennett and wife Jovy of_Lacey, WA, Kathryn Carpenter and husband Kevin of_Dighton and Linda M. Frank and husband Brian of Somerset, MA. He was the grandfather of_twelve, the late Shawn E. Hevey, Ethan Ward and Rachel Ward, Samuel, Hannah, Abigail, John and James Bennett, Julianna, Lauren, Paul and Matthew Bennett , great-grandfather of_Lincoln Waters. He was the cousin of Rhonda Verrissimo of Tiverton, RI and the brother in law of Frederick Lapre of N. Dighton, and Marlene Ferrie of Swansea.
Mr. Bennett’s funeral will be held on saturday, February 5, 2022 at 8:30 am from The Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square.) Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Saint Nicholas of Myra Church Spring Street, North Dighton. Interment with military honors will follow in Dighton Veterans Cemetery corner of Elm and Main Street, Dighton.
