Helen Louise (Sweeney) Midwood

Helen L. Midwood, age 81 of Dighton, Massachusetts died peacefully at her home on Sunday, August 27, 2023. Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late William R. and Mary E. (Sweeney) Midwood.

Raised in the Ocean Grove neighborhood of Swansea, she spent many days roller-skating at “The Bluffs” with her friends. She was a graduate of Joseph Case High School and the Union Hospital School of Nursing. A Registered Nurse, she worked at the John E. Boyd Child Care and Development Center in Fall River for over forty years where she was affectionately known as “Nurse Helen”. She had a deep passion for children and their well-being. Helen enjoyed the simpler things in life; feeding and admiring the many species of birds around her deck, meticulously caring for her flower garden and spending time with her family, reflecting on the many life experiences she had lived over the years.

She is survived by four children, Katherine Quintal, Cynthia Harrison and her husband Gary, Pamela Leduc and her husband Bob, all of Dighton and Lawrence Quintal and his wife Chrissy of Taunton; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was the grandmother of the late Kaitlin-Ellen Frances Haberek.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 10:00 AM in Saint Francis of Assisi, 530 Gardners Neck Rd, Swansea. Relatives and friends are invited. At the request of the family, the burial will be private.
