Gerry Morin

BRIDGEWATER- Gerry Morin, age 64, of Bridgewater, former longtime resident of Taunton, passed away on Friday, November 17, 2023, at Miriam Hospital in Providence. He was the beloved husband for 38 wonderful years to Shirley (Kelley) Morin.

Born in Taunton, Gerry was one of four children and the only son born to the late Hector and Bertha (Stephanitis) Morin. He was raised and grew up in Taunton, graduating from Taunton High School. Upon his completion of his high school diploma, Gerry enlisted in the United States Navy. 

A proud and patriotic man, over the course of his six years in the Navy, Gerry served as a Missile Tech on submarines. He was discharged from the service in 1984.

Being a jack of all trades and having a wonderful work ethic, Gerry worked for many years as a Carpenter in residential construction. He was able to handle any tasks in completing construction projects, whether it was carpentry, plumbing, or electrical. However, Gerry’s main forte was being a “Cut Man”, where he would measure the walls and cut the wood needed to construct homes. 

Outside of work, Gerry loved to go saltwater fishing and quahogging, especially in Onset. He enjoyed all the time spent on his boat, the Shirley Mae, where many wonderful memories were made. He was an avid cook and he would often bring lunch for all his co-workers to the job site. Above all, Gerry treasured time spent and memories made with his dear family. 

In addition to his dear wife, Gerry is survived by his son: Patrick T. Morin; his two step-daughters: Tara Reed and her husband Mark and Kristy Costa; his grandsons: Matt and Tim Reed;  his sisters: Rose “Chick” Morin, Suzanne Morin; and the late Mary Harden; and also nieces, nephews, and numerous friends. 

Gerry’s memorial visitation with funeral will be held on Sunday, November 26, 2023, at 11:00am followed by a funeral service beginning at 1:00pm in the Chapel of the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton.
