Euterpe “Terpe” Petty, 99, of Plymouth, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 4th, 2023.
She was the widow of the late Lewis Petty. Born in Taunton, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Sophia (Zokopoulos) Halekas.
Euterpe was named after one of the nine muses from Greek Mythology, the Goddess of Music. She was a waitress for almost sixty years and spent many of them at Carnie’s Restaurant in Cape May, NJ. True to her name, she would often incorporate her love of music and dancing with her waitressing skills endearing her to customers and coworkers alike.
Survivors include her daughter, Bonnie Chase and her husband Bob of Plymouth; grandchildren, Peter Spaeth, Jennifer Martin, Megan Allaire and Nathan Tupper; great grandchildren, Alexis Petty, Cassidy Tupper, Sam Martin and Katie Martin; son-in-law, Harry Spaeth; and several nieces and nephews. She was also mother of the late Barbara Spaeth and sister of the late George Halekas, Garifilia “Gary” Forsythe, Demetra Ellington, Joanna Merakos and Vasiliki "Bess" O’Dell.
Arrangements with Silva Funeral Home were privately held.
An informal gathering to celebrate Euterpe's life will be planned for a later date.
