Dick Cordeiro

NORTON- Richard J. “Dick” Cordeiro, age 82, passed away surrounded by the love, comfort, and care of his dear family on the morning of Sunday, October 1, 2023, at his home in Norton. He was the loving and devoted husband to Alice M. (Sypek) Cordeiro.

Born in Taunton, Dick was one of two boys born to the late Frank and Helen (DeCosta) Cordeiro. He was raised and grew up in Taunton. As a young child, Dick met his wife, Alice. In their teenage years they officially began their relationship, which would lead to 61 years of marriage. 

Having a good way with people, Dick worked for many years as a Salesman for many food distributor companies in the Taunton area. 

In 1986, and with a want to contribute to his community, Dick became a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Taunton MA Lodge No. 150.  Throughout his time in the Elks, Dick served in various leadership positions, including a stint as Exalted Ruler of the Lodge. In addition, Dick was recognized within the Lodge as a Honorary Life Member for his many years of dedication.

In his spare time, Dick was an avid outdoorsman, where he enjoyed camping and fishing. He liked to cook, especially his favorite cuisine, breakfast food. Above all, he cherished time spent and memories made with his dear family. 

In addition to his wife, Dick is survived by his children: Deborah Cordeiro-Venditelli and her husband Robert and Richard C. Cordeiro and his companions, Dawn Barna; his grandchildren: Skyler, Teegan, Jareth, Rachael, Joshua, and Erik; his great-grandchildren: Sean, Lilja, Cooper, and Zoey; his brother: William Cordeiro and his wife Rosemary; and also numerous nieces, nephews, friends and extended family members. 

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, October 8,, 2023 at 10:00am followed by a service to begin at 12:00pm in the Chapel of the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton. Additional parking with handicap access is located on the north side of the funeral home.

His burial at Norton Common Cemetery will be held privately.
