Delores (Avila) Paiva, age 86 of North Attleboro, formerly of Dighton, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2022 at her residence with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late John Joseph Paiva.
Delores was born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Alice (Banyea) Avila. Before retiring, Mrs. Paiva was employed with Classic Jewelry and was a cook in the former Dighton Nursing Home and worked as a dietician. In her earlier years, Delores played basketball for her varsity high school team. She also volunteered at St. Joseph’s Church at their weekly bingo.
Del loved to play dice with her sister-in-laws, go to Bingo and Foxwoods with her friends, and spoil her grandchildren. She was a fantastic cook and baker and was known to make full-course Thanksgiving dinners for any ordinary occasions. She cherished her time spent with her beloved daughter and her grandchildren.
Mrs. Paiva is survived by her loving daughter Sandy (Paiva) Dusel and her wonderful husband, Mark, of North Attleboro, grandmother of Greg Dusel, Breanne Dusel Babcock, and Brett Dusel, and great-grandmother of her beloved Amelia Rose Dusel. Her sister-in-laws Josephine Fostin, Mary Moniz, and Dorothy Cordeira have a special place in her heart. Her beloved goddaughter, Cheryl Rose, was a second daughter and caregiver to her and loved beyond measure.
Mrs. Paiva’s funeral with visitation will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 9am from the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in Saint Mary’s Church in Taunton. Interment will follow in Cedar Knoll Cemetery, east Taunton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts made to VNA Hospice & Palliative Care in Mrs. Paiva’s memory, would be deeply appreciated.
