Anthony Martin

TAUNTON- Anthony “Tony” Martin, age 76, of Taunton, passed away surrounded by the love, comfort, and care of his family at Morton Hospital on Thursday, September 28, 2023. He was the beloved and dedicated  partner to Young Mi “Mia” O’Brien. 

Born in Taunton, MA, Tony was one of three children born to the late Antone L. and Olinda (Gomes) Martin. He grew up in Taunton and attended Coyle Cassidy High School, where he played for their athletic programs, including baseball.

A man with a great work ethic, Tony worked as a Water Treatment Operator for the City of Taunton, recently retiring at the age of 75 with nearly 35 years of employment with the city. 

In his spare time, Tony enjoyed watching all different types of sports and athletic events, especially baseball, hockey, and New England sports teams. He was an animal lover and throughout his life, he was an owner and trainer of greyhounds. He was an avid listener of his favorite musical artist, Elvis Presley. Above all, he cherished time spent and memories made with his dear family. 

In addition to his partner, Tony is survived by his step-children: Patrick and his wife Silavana Guarino and Monica O’Brien; his grandchildren: Matthew and Emily Cunnigham; his siblings: Linda M. Martin and James Martin and his wife Elizabeth; his nephews: Jon Martin and his wife Julia Morris and Michael Martin and his partner Alexis Steinberg; and also numerous extended family members. 

Services and burial for Tony will be held privately. A Celebration of Life will be held at a date and time to be announced.
